About Argentine Tango
Argentine tango is a social dance and a musical genre that originated in Argentina and moved to Uruguay and to the rest of the world later on. In the US, it is commonly confused with ballroom tango, though this is a later derivation.
Tango can be danced in both intimate closed embrace - more often associated with the more traditional styles and open embrace (and anywhere inbetween) which is more associated with the tango nuevo style. At it's base tango is essentially walking with your partner and to the music. The lead's interpretation of the musicality is extremely and, as with all good dances, with allow you to visualise the music.
Argentine tango is very unusual for a partner dance as the majority of parnter dances have a rational-pattern that can to some degree be predicted by the follower. This doesn't apply to Tango (Argentine) as the predictability is replaced by real and instantaneous communication through contact, creating a dance that is more a language than sequence.
"A tango is a living act in the moment as it happens"
