How long does it take to learn Salsa? |
We would usually expect the average person to pick up the beat and basic steps after justa couple of lessons and soon be able to lead their parter / be lead through simple turns and manouvers after 4-5 lessons. Salsa like any traditional dance is constantly evolving and depending on you motivation, desire to improve and natural cometancy there's really no limit to what you can learn, it's constantly evolving over the years, as will you! |

How good do i need to be before i venuture into salsa club and social dancing? |
The best method is to join a beginners class which then goes directly into social dancing you can then practice with those from your class until your confident enough to ask others. But remember, you don't learn salsa in the class, you learn technique and possibilities there, you can ONLY learn salsa by dancing socially! so get oyt there, men - if you cna lead a couple of basic moves then go boogie, women - men wil just ask you, it's only polite to say yes and you'll be amazed how quickly you develop! |

How often should i attend classes? |
To significantly improve at a noticable rate you should ideall go to 2 classes per week and if viable the occasional workshops. You should see your style and technique soar over the coming months that way. 1 lesson per week is the standard, and you will get there but with 2 separated lessons of the same beat and style you won't forget anywhere near as much!! |

I originally learnt Cuban , should i learn LA Style as well? |
Absolutely!! Both styles have their own strengths and own music and it would be a shame to miss out on a good venue because of a lack of knowledge, BUT saying that please read the next entry... |

I originally learnt LA Style, should i learn Cuban as well? |
This is a tricky subject, in an ideal world the it's best to know both dance styless BUT don't go jumping between the two when you're learning, best to learn either LA (cross body) style or Cuban style, both are usually taught in the same area, but it's worth getting a good grounding (6months +) before attempting the alternative style, though not essentiual as both LA Style and Cuban are usually taugh 1On1. Most cities / towns will only have one dance venue and very often it's dominated solely by a single style i'm sorry to say. |
